Marco Heredia is an environmental and climate diplomacy expert with over 23 years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and projects. He specializes in climate change law and policy. Delivering high-impact results and outcomes, Marco has worked in multilateral and intergovernmental negotiations and implementing multilateral environmental and climate agreements.
As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) initiative, Marco works collaboratively with the Maldives and El Salvador governments. In the Maldives, Marco is collaborating with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. His work as a climate diplomacy expert supports the learning opportunities by coaching the existing Maldives negotiators as they participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) processes. In El Salvador, Marco works with the government’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Gender Unit to strengthen the capacity of key staff to develop and adopt well-informed policies and programs to address gender gaps in environmental management.
Marco thrives from making valuable contributions to the countries he works in. As a climate negotiator, he has been part of international negotiations for the 24, 25, and 27 Conferences of the Parties (COPs) of the UNFCCC.
Based in Montreal, Canada, Marco´s work is the recipient of the National Council for Social Policy Evaluation (CONEVAL, 2017) award and the National Academy of Evaluators (ACEVAL, 2020) award. He holds a Ph.D. in Law, a Master of Laws, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Mexico. He also holds academic diplomas in English, Qualitative Evaluation, Impact Evaluation for Development, Public Policy Evaluation, and Virtual Environments and Learning Objects.
