TAP-EDM SHOWCASE EVENT

Canadian experts strengthening Canada’s bilateral relationship with ODA countries

Ottawa, Canada – Alinea International |The Technical Assistance Partnership – Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) team is excited to announce its TAP-EDM Showcase Event to highlight more than 29 Canadian experts recruited to support international development work around the globe. The showcase event marks the completion of the first year of TAP-EDM implementation and offers an opportunity to reflect on the achievements to date.

The TAP-EDM Showcase Event is taking place on the evening of November 23, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and will bring together more than 32 countries participating in current technical assistance initiatives for a unique opportunity with Global Affairs Canada partners as well as Canadian experts contributing to international development projects, helping to strengthen Canada’s bilateral relationship with partner countries. Diplomatic Corps officials, Global Affairs Canada officials and TAP-EDM Canadian experts have been invited to the Native Women’s Association of Canada Center in Gatineau, a meeting space that reaffirms TAP’s commitment to reconciliation and partnership with Indigenous Peoples of Canada.

TAP-EDM provides technical assistance to a partnered Official Development Assistance – eligible country (ODAs) by identifying a Canadian Expert who can supply technical assistance needed to contribute to poverty reduction. This is done by enhancing the capacity of national-level institutions to manage policies and practices in a more gender-responsive and inclusive way.

“Alinea International is thrilled to be involved in TAP-EDM, one of Global Affairs Canada’s newest complex global Expert Deployment Mechanisms. We are pleased to be working so closely with GAC’s diplomatic team ranging from Trade, Development and Foreign Service officials, advancing Canada’s breadth of foreign policy interests in potentially over 130 countries around the world.  This project is a shining example of how spreading a little of Canada’s values and expertise with National Government partners can support greater gender equality, social inclusion, more climate action, and improved human rights that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.”

-Christopher Yeomans, Project Director TAP-EDM, Alinea International

Funding for TAP initiatives is provided by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada’s Technical Assistance Partnership-Expert Deployment Mechanism Program and implemented by Alinea International. The partnership serves to increase awareness and engagement of Canadians as partners and global citizens in support of Canada’s international assistance efforts within the framework of it’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP).
