The Technical Assistance Partnership—Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) initiative is working in collaboration with resource management policy and regulatory leader, Deborah Archibald and Kosovo’s Ministry of Economy to strengthen the Government’s capacity to assess, design, develop and deliver policies, programs, and services that support a more robust, inclusive, and sustainable mining sector that benefits all Kosovans including women, the vulnerable and the poor.
Developing effective governance in the mining sector in Kosovo is key to improving conditions on the ground and ensuring the successful implementation of the work and recommendations from Phase One. A main priority in Phase Two will be to focus on two key areas identified during the first phase, which include overseeing the development of the next iteration of the Mining Strategy and managing the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the institutional reform report, which addresses the structure of government entities overseeing mining activities.
In this two-phase project, Deborah’s role included providing training on best practices in resource management, public policy development and implementation and public engagement, and community consultation in the first phase. In the second phase, Deborah supports the co-development of the next iteration of Kosovo’s mining strategy. In addition, she is also collaborating with the Secretariat of Mining of the Government of Argentina to enhance the Secretariat’s team’s capacity to develop and implement multilateral dialogue and consultation processes within the mining sector.
