Closing Event for the Technical Assistance Partnership – Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM)
Montreal, September 15, 2025 – On behalf of Global Affairs Canada, Alinea International is announcing a special event to mark the conclusion of the Technical Assistance Partnership – Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM). Over the past four years, this flagship program has mobilized Canadian expertise in more than 40 partner countries.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Future Together: Canadian Cooperation”, the event will take place on September 18, 2025. It will bring together experts, practitioners, and institutional representatives for a roundtable on governance, human rights, and global solidarity.
A Collective Moment of Reflection
This gathering offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the role and impact of Canadian international cooperation. TAP-EDM experts will share their experiences, highlighting practical technical assistance initiatives implemented worldwide and rooted in local realities.
Program Overview
- Welcome and Opening (5:45 p.m.): Hosted by Omayra Issa; opening remarks by Lucie Ménard, Vice-Rector for Research at UQAM, followed by an address from Christopher MacLennan, Deputy Minister of International Development, Global Affairs Canada.
- Keynote and Roundtable Discussion (6:30 p.m.):
- Keynote Speaker: François Audet, Director, Montreal Institute of International Studies
- Round Table Guest Speakers: Shanae Smith, TAP-EDM Expert in Paraguay, Sébastien Hamel, TAP-EDM Expert in Côte d’Ivoire, Michèle Asselin, Executive Director, AQOCI
The evening will close with a reception at UQAM’s Salle Polyvalente, providing an opportunity for guests and dignitaries to exchange. Admission is free with registration.
