Latin American and Caribbean Forum by TAP-EDM/Alinea International: Celebrating 2 years of partnership and innovation.
Gatineau, Québec, February 14, 2024 – The Global Affairs Canada Technical Assistance Partnership and Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM), implemented by Alinea International, is organizing a hybrid event of great significance for Canadian bilateral relations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In keeping with Canada’s International Development Week, this celebratory, knowledge-sharing event organized in collaboration with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM-Canada), aims to cultivate “South-South” connections through Canadian technical assistance. The Forum will take place on February 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST, at UNAM-Canada, 55 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec.
The purpose of the forum is to highlight the impact of Canada’s short-term technical assistance initiatives carried out by TAP-EDM in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to enable partners in these regions to exchange learnings and best practices, the sharing of expertise and facilitating stimulating discussions on gender equality, climate change and human rights. The forum will bring a line-up of speakers on initiatives ranging on gender-focused climate management in El Salvador, promoting education pathways for refugees en Mexico, to agro-food processing in Guyana.
According to TAP-EDM Project Director Christopher Yeomans: “We are pleased to highlight the successes of the past two years in Latin America and the Caribbean, and this forum offers a unique opportunity to learn more about our bilateral relations with partner countries and the concrete results achieved through Canadian technical assistance. We hope that participants will take advantage of this opportunity to see the potential for international development through a Canadian initiative like TAP-EDM.”
Participants can still register online via the ZOOM LINK or in person via an EVENTBRITE RSVP. For more information and the Forum program, please visit TAP Events.
TAP-EDM, funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Alinea International, aims to strengthen the capacity of national institutions in partner countries to manage policies in a more inclusive and gender-sensitive way. In line with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy, it integrates gender equality, climate action, environmental sustainability, human rights and good governance. The C$18.75 million, four-year project will involve more than 200 Canadian experts in 75 to 80 technical assistance initiatives designed to meet the capacity-building needs of beneficiary countries.
