Performance Audit Expert

Sharon Clark is a performance audit expert with over 20 years of experience. She was a Principal Director at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada for over ten years, leading many performance audits. Sharon led the performance audit methodology practice, updated the performance audit manual and procedures, and contributed to international performance audit standards. Before joining the Office of the Auditor General, she spent ten years as a management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in human resources and change management.

As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership-Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) initiative, Sharon, alongside other Canadian experts, is collaborating with the Government of Ecuador’s Office of the Comptroller General (Auditor General) to support an expanded Performance Audit practice. The initiative aims to strengthen the performance audit practice to empower the Comptroller’s office to ensure the most effective use of state resources.

Based in Ottawa, Sharon is the vice president of Business, Professional Development, and Audit for the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (CAAF). She manages the delivery of CAAF’s audit courses and workshops and seeks new opportunities and partnerships to expand CAAF’s reach. Sharon has delivered presentations on performance audits in Spanish in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica, and Peru. She has an MBA from McGill University and a BA in political science from the Hebrew University.
