Malcolm Robb is a mineral policy expert with over four decades of experience in the mineral sector, primarily focusing on Northern Canada and involvement in South America. His journey spans industry and government, with expertise in the entire industry lifecycle – from initial project conception to mine closure and reclamation. His dedication throughout his professional journey was directed towards advocacy, ensuring conscientious mineral exploration and development. His contributions also encompassed advisory roles in royalties, policies, and consultancy services for industry clients.
As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) initiative, Malcolm, alongside fellow expert Freddy Cáceres, collaborates with Malawi’s Ministry of Mining. Their joint efforts are focused on implementing practices and services that foster a more inclusive and sustainable mining sector. The main thrust of their work lies in enhancing the capabilities of Ministry personnel and pertinent community stakeholders, facilitating a collaborative approach while championing good governance standards. This encompasses the promotion of consultations and community involvement.
As Director at Archibald Robb Consulting Inc., Malcolm’s collaborative ventures span a range of organizations, including the Northwest Territories Geological Survey and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada. He has successfully completed the Graduate Diamonds program at the Gemological Institute of America, along with a Diploma in Personal Financial Planning from the Institute of Canadian Bankers. Furthermore, he pursued studies in Mining Geology at the Imperial College in London, UK, Royal School of Mines. Complementing his academic achievements are various short courses covering mineral economics, valuation of mineral deposits, mineral exploration, mine grade control, and mine health and safety.
