Iqbal Bhatti is an environmental expert with over 20 years of experience in the sustainability and plastic recycling industry. Actively working in the climate change and sustainability sectors, he specializes in plastic waste management and recycling, greenhouse gasses (GHG) accounting, renewable energy transition and NetZero pathways. Iqbal has developed and implemented recycling and renewable energy projects in Indonesia, China, Thailand, Pakistan, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada.
As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) initiative, Iqbal works collaboratively with the Government of Indonesia’s National Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs (NCMMIA). His work supports the design, development and assessment of one or more workable blended financing models that local governments and financing partners can use to acquire and operate plastics waste management systems that reduce levels of plastic waste leakage.
Iqbal is alarmed by the state of the environment. He sees firsthand how much waste we produce. Knowing the science and data behind waste management and climate change, he is motivated to do something about the cause. Iqbal is optimistic that the work and solutions he provides for projects he works on will make an impact in the short and long run.
Based in Yellowknife, Canada, Iqbal is also a Technical Climate Change Specialist for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Iqbal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Spacecraft Technology with distinction from University College London.
