Elin Miller is a highly accomplished Canadian expert in gender equality, peace and security. She specializes in international human rights and peacebuilding. Elin has held various positions with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs throughout her diplomatic career, including postings to Canada, Colombia and the UN in New York. She was most recently Deputy Director in the Peace and Stabilization Operations Program with Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa, heading the Women, Peace, and Security policy unit.
As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) initiative, Elin collaborates with the Government of Costa Rica to develop a National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS). The primary objective of this initiative is to provide technical expertise and share Canada’s experience designing and implementing its National Action Plan on WPS. Elin’s work will help advance women’s participation and representation in peace and security efforts and related decision-making processes.
Elin’s unwavering commitment to fundamental human rights principles has been the cornerstone of her work. She recognizes the importance of learning from global experiences. Elin believes that realizing gender equality and human rights is not only crucial for societal progress but also holds the potential to transform the world.
Elin holds a Master of International Law from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stockholm University and a Civil Law degree from Lund University. She is a published author, former fellow of the Women Peacemakers Program at the Kroc Institute, and host of the podcast Everyday Reconciliation.
