Bill Anderson

Bill Anderson is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a technical expert with over 15 years of consulting experience. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his expertise in animal health, food safety, institutional strengthening, risk-based livestock border inspection, and legal actions in regulatory matters. His work in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on capacity development and importing and exporting agri-food products across Guyana, Haiti, Barbados, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, and Mexico.

As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership-Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) initiative, Bill, with two other Canadian experts, Brian McKay and Yvon Bertrand, is working collaboratively with the Zambian Ministry of Commerce to identify Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) gaps in Zambia’s food and agricultural trade regulations and strengthen the country’s experts’ ability to manage them.

Bill has led significant initiatives, such as developing a novel approach to provincial meat inspection in Canada, managing the reorganization of Canada’s Meat Programs Division, and contributing to Canada’s emergency responses to BSE (mad cow disease) and Avian Influenza outbreaks. Additionally, he has represented Canada’s Meat Inspection Program at international forums and led workshops, including the Ninth World Meat Hygiene and Inspection Congress.

Bill is a DVM Subject Matter Expert in Animal Health at TDV Global Inc. Before this role, he held positions at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as the Director of Meat Programs and Animal Health and Agriculture Canada. He holds a DVM and a Master of Science in Microbiology and Epidemiology from the University of Guelph.
