Alejandro Rodríguez Aguirre is a Canadian expert in Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE), with over 16 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender, youth, and human rights within the framework of international cooperation and solidarity. He has undertaken various assignments for international organizations, including United Nations agencies and programs, across numerous countries in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
As an expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership – Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) initiative, Alejandro collaborates with Bolivia’s Observatory of Educational Quality department to provide technical support to enhance the curricular and policy framework for comprehensive sexual education. In collaboration with a national expert in academic research, Alejandro will identify the existing challenges and will provide recommendations to adjust and reorient the curriculum content and the training related to CSE in Bolivia.
In 2023, on behalf of the International Organization for Migration (IOM – UN Migration), Alejandro played a pivotal role in producing ten documents that systematized best practices for the reception and support of Venezuelan migrants and refugees in South America. These documents include a technical framework on best practices and gender and intersectionality approaches, essential for strengthening Bolivia’s Plurinational Observatory of Educational Quality.
Based in Montreal, Alejandro is a national and international consultant. He holds master’s degrees in public health and social development from the University of Bordeaux, France, and in Health Promotion from the Public University of Navarra, Spain. Alejandro’s expertise is further recognized by his invitations to speak at the University of Montreal as part of the international cooperation and solidarity certification program.
