Project Overview
This initiative supported Guatemala’s Secretariat against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons (SVET).
Project Profile
The Technical Assistance Partnership-Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM) project, in collaboration with a Canadian expert in international development, Philip Jakob, worked with Guatemala’s Secretariat against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons (SVET). The goal was to support the development and implementation of a digital platform that enables real-time, consolidated data collection from multiple government agencies. The platform would help SVET conduct informed and objective risk analysis, allowing them to direct financial and human resources toward vulnerable populations, especially women, girls, and migrants.
SVET’s data collection and analysis systems and tools related to sexual violence, exploitation, and human trafficking crimes were evaluated. International best practices were identified to inform the development of a suitable digital statistical system. In addition, training workshops were created and facilitated for SVET personnel, focusing on the use of statistical data for gender-responsive planning.

Project Outcomes and Lessons Learned
The project strengthened SVET’s capacity to implement a real-time data collection and monitoring system to inform evidence-based policymaking and gender-responsive program delivery. A key lesson learned was the value of developing an analytical system that consolidates disaggregated datasets into a user-friendly, locally installed dashboard, enabling future opportunities for advanced analysis.
