Yvio Georges is an environment and climate change specialist with over 15 years of experience in technical assistance, capacity building and project management, particularly in climate change adaptation. Yvio supported the development of the national climate change adaptation plan within the United Nations Development Program in Haiti. He has also collaborated on several mandates related to sustainable development objectives, in synergy with climate, biodiversity and nature-based solutions in Quebec, West Africa (Burkina Faso), and Latin America and the Caribbean, mainly in Haiti.
As a Canadian Technical Expert for the Technical Assistance Partnership – Expert Deployment Mechanism (TAP-EDM), Yvio, alongside another Canadian expert, is collaborating with the Centre de recherches, d’études, de documentation et d’information sur la femme (CREDIF) under the Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly and the Government of Tunisia to develop gender-responsive and climate-sensitive strategies and programs. This initiative will support the national entity in designing awareness-raising plans and strengthening staff capacity on these critical issues.
Based in Montreal with missions abroad, Yvio has supported several projects through various Canadian international development institutions, through United Nations programs such as UNDP, UNEP, UNOPS, and the European company GEOtest. He has a Master’s degree from the University of Liège in Belgium in Natural Risk Management with a specialization in Climate Risk Management and a Graduate Certificate in Climate Change from Laval University in Canada.
